Cowra Uniting Church began life as the Wesleyan Church in 1888 on land reserved for the purpose of building a church for a district population of about 1200 people.  It was officially opened in June, 1890.

In 1902 it became the Methodist Church after the inauguration of that church in Australia.

In 1977, with the amalgamation of the Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational churches, Cowra Methodist Church was renamed Cowra Uniting Church.

Cowra Uniting Church is governed by the Uniting Church in Australia nationally and is under the local jurisdiction of the Macquarie Darling Presbytery.

Cowra Uniting Church has a Church Council made up of 10 church members, with an elected Executive.  Church Council meetings are held several times per year, with a Congregational Meeting every 4 months.
